Sharon’s new baby is more “demanding” than elder sister

By Marinel Cruz

THE PANGILINAN FAMILY: Senator Francis Pangilinan, daughter Frankie,
Megastar Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan and KC Pangilinan

MANILA --- Megastar Sharon Cuneta's new baby, Mariel Daniella Sophia or Miel, is more "demanding and impatient" than her elder sister Frankie, according to Sharon's husband, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

"Frankie is a happy baby," the senator told Inquirer Entertainment on the phone last Wednesday. "She didn't cry as much as Miel does.

"We notice that Miel cries whenever she gets wet. She won't stop until her diapers are changed. She's also like that when she's hungry. I told Sharon, 'we should have nicknamed her Ora Mismo.'"

Sharon gave birth to Miel via caesarian section on Sept. 3 at the Asian Hospital in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Frankie, short for Francesca Simone Emmanuelle, is now 3 years old.

When asked how Frankie is coping with the addition of another baby in the Pangilinan home, the senator said: "She's okay. She was prepared. She had been praying for a new baby.

"In fact, she doesn't call Miel her baby sister. She calls her 'my baby,'" said Kiko, while Frankie could be heard squealing in the background. "Also, Frankie got gifts from the baby last Sept. 2. She received chocolates and candies from baby Miel."

Almost a month after Miel's birth, mother and daughter are now occupied with breastfeeding, according to the senator. "They're both fine," he said. "We've been having sleepless nights, but it's okay. Miel has not had anything but breast milk."

He said Sharon was wheeled into the Asian Hospital at 5:15 a.m. She gave birth around 6:30 a.m. Miel weighed 8.2 pounds and measured 51 centimeters long.

He said that Sharon, while having birth pains the night before, kept saying, "ayoko na." But the next day, while cradling the newborn, Sharon said her doctor told her she could have another baby next year.

"But we'll see," said Sharon's husband. "The heart is willing but the body is . . . Mahirap kasi magbuntis si Sharon. I think we'll rest first."

Sharon has not made any announcement yet as to when she will resume work in show business. But Sen. Pangilinan said his wife is preparing for a series of shows in the United States next year.

Kristina Cassandra or KC, Sharon's eldest daughter from her previous marriage to former actor Gabby Concepcion, is in Paris where she is a college freshman. (INS)

Judy Ann says end of soap a major loss

Judy Ann Santos

MANILA --- Judy Ann Santos considers the end of the top ABS-CBN teleserye, "Basta't Kasama Kita" (BKK), as a major loss. After all, BKK was still rating high till the very end.

Besides, she says she had fun working with Robin Padilla and the other members of the cast. The series also made her realize she is also capable of doing an action role.

Just the same, however, she is excited about her coming project, "Krystala," a fantaserye to start airing probably next week. She thinks it will be as big, if not bigger, a production than BKK.

"As a child gusto kong manood o magbasa ng mga fantasy," says Judy Ann. "Lalo't kapag ang pangunahing tauhan ay lumilipad. Kaya nga excited ako everytime may taping kami for 'Krystala.'"

As for her lovelife, it's still zero, she says.

So what happened to her supposed romance with Wendell Ramos?

"Nag-dwindle," says a kibitzer, "kasama ng 'Sabel' (the movie where they were paired) pagkatapos mai-showing ang pelikula." (MNS)

Use of name offends Kris

Kris Aquino

MANILA --- Kris Aquino has reportedly felt offended when she discovered that the younger brother of her former boyfriend, Pampanga Gov. Mark Lapid, is using Cris Lapid as his screen name.

Cris, who is Maynard in real life, just signed a contract with Regal Entertainment.

Kris said that she knows she has no monopoly of the name Kris or Cris, but inside showbiz, she swore that she is the only one identified with the name.

Well, according to the newcomer’s father, Sen. Lito Lapid, Cris got his screen name after the senator’s brother, Christopher.

In any case, don’t you think that Cris (Maynard) Lapid is starting his career in showbiz on the wrong foot? (MNS)
