Kris not leaving ‘Hiram’

Kris Aquino

MANILA --- Kris Aquino is not leaving “Hiram.” She will finish the teleserye until March, when it is expected to end.

“Nagpapahinga lang siya,” said a kibitzer, when asked why Kris is not being seen in the teleserye lately. “Kaya, kunyari, may sakit siya [sa teleserye].

“Napaka-busy din talaga ni Kris lately. Mantakin mo, bukod sa ‘Hiram,’ mayroon pa siyang two other shows. The weekly showbiz talk program, ‘The Buzz’ and the daily game show, ‘Game KNB?’

“E, ‘di ba, tinapos niya din ang pelikulang pam-filmfest ng Regal Entertainment, ‘Happy Together’?” our source added.

“Happy Together” teams up Kris with Eric Quizon, her first ka-MU (mutual understanding).

Someone whispered that Kris was about 15 and Eric was 20 when they became sweethearts.

Said our source: “Presidente na noon ng Pilipinas ang Mommy ni Kris kaya tagong tago ang kanilang pag-iibigan.

Eric was free, though, to visit Kris in Malacańang.”

How come their relationship didn’t last? “Perhaps they outgrew each other. Which is just as well, since they have remained friends to date,” the same source replied. (MNS)

Kristine now Mrs. Diether Ocampo

Kristine Hermosa and Diether Ocampo

MANILA --- It looks like the report that Diether Ocampo and Kristine Hermosa are now husband and wife is true. The couple reportedly tied the knot in a province nearby.

Could it be in Cavite, where Diether spent his childhood?

In any case, there has been a report also that Kristine now lives in the townhouse of Diether on Roces Ave. in Quezon City. Kristine used to stay in a condominium unit in New Manila, Quezon City.

Kung sabagay, Diether is already in his 30s. Two years ago, I remember him telling us in an interview that he has already asked director Johnny Manahan's permission to marry his girlfriend (not Kristine). But Mr. M, as Diether calls Direk Johnny, told Diether to give himself two more years before settling down.

Well, two years have passed and Diether obviously feels he's now ready to have a family. And he has apparently found the right woman for him. Why wait pa nga naman?

Kristine just turned 21 last September. (MNS)

Pops says Ai Ai still her friend

Pop Fernandez

MANILA --- Pops Fernandez wants to make it clear that she's not sore at Ai Ai de las Alas for saying that "Sing-Galing" on ABC-5 was rating higher when Ai Ai was still hosting it.

"It's a small matter na gustong palakihin ng ibang tao," says the good-natured Pops. "Basta I still consider Ai Ai as my friend. Ako naman, I'll do my best para mas mapaganda ang show."

We've seen Pops' new show on ABC-5, "Pops!," and it offers a pleasant viewing alternative on Monday nights. She gets to sing while interviewing guests like Martin Nievera, Albert and Liezl Martinez.

"I feel blessed that at this crucial stage in my professional life, I'm given the chance to host a talk show with a little music and get to explore my talent for intelligent, interesting conversation. I've always been a curious person. I want to know know more about people, how they live and love, how they cope when they're hurt, and this show allows me to do that.

"In the process, it helps me become a better person. When you learn about others, the experience strengthens and empowers you. Like when Martin guested, I got to learn a lot about him that I never saw before, or that I never bothered to see before. The show provides an eclectic mix of topics and personalities that gives me the opportunity to make myself better as a woman, mother, performer and citizen of this country.

"When we guested fashion designers Tippi Ocampo, Patrice Diaz and Dennis Lustico, I really learn so much about the latest fashion shifts and trends. When G Tongi came, she shared her experiences in the U.S. doing humbling jobs like waitressing and bartending while waiting for that elusive break in Hollywood. I admired G a lot more after the interview. I learned from her that failure is not the absence of success but the decision to give up."

Since Pops sings, the show offers band music to accompany her. "Band music is really an integral part of the show's concept. But nothing formal or structured. I just sing and kid around with the band like you're just hanging out and having fun with us. I think we're going to try out several bands before settling down to a regular band for the show. Right now, we have a new young group called Escape." (MNS)
