Edu insecure with his age

Edu Manzano

MANILA --- Does Edu Manzano feel insecure when his colleagues in “OK Fine ‘To ang Gusto Mo” make fun of his age on the air, often stressing that he’s the eldest among them?

“No. I take good care of myself and I feel I’m at the peak of my health.”

And it’s true. He might be pushing 50 but he looks so much younger as he has maintained a very trim figure.

“You know, I’ve never enjoyed life like I do now,” he adds. “I’ve realized that money is not the end all and be all in life, but relationships, so I try to spend more time now with my younger kids, Adi and Enzo.”

How does he feel now that his eldest son, Luis, is acting as a comedian in “Bora”?

“He’s good and I’m proud of him. They say, namana sa akin ang sense of humor niya.”

At this point John Estrada butts in. “In all due respect, when Vilma Santos guested in ‘OK Fine’, I realized Luis got his genes sa pag-arte from his mom. Mas magaling talaga ‘yung nanay.”

Edu gives him a dagger look and we all laugh. Edu says he’s looking forward to working with Luis in “Tonight with the Manzanos,” a combination sitcom-talk show that they’re now working on.

“Ang ayoko lang, Luis promised me he’ll finish his HRM course sa La Salle but up to now, he still has about two subjects to complete. In my case, I’m going back to school to take up criminal law at the Philippine College of Criminology. I really want to make good in prosecuting video pirates.”

Has he cleared things up with Sen. Bong Revilla about his job as Optical Media Board chairman?

“Oh yes. He was given inaccurate information about me. Now, he knows I’m on the right track dahil studies shows na sa buong ASEAN region, tayo lang ang bumaba ang incidence of piracy lately.”

Edu gets a folder and shows us some statistics. “This is from the International Intellectual Property Alliance and it will show na bumaba ang piracy sa atin by 6%. So I don’t think anyone can accuse me of not doing a good job.” (MNS)

Joey has new girlfriend

MANILA --- We’re wondering how Kris Aquino feels now that Joey Marquez is said to have a new girlfriend.

“Okay lang,” someone close to her tells us. “Meron na rin naman siyang bagong jowa kaya pareho lang sila.”

Joey’s new playmate is said be a matronly bank manager. The problem is she’s still officially married and we’re told her husband is mad about her relationship with Joey. He’s now threatening to file charges of concubinage against them.

“Naku, e maliwanag na panibagong gulo na naman ang hinaharap na ito ni Joey,” says one writer. “Mabuti pa ang ex niyang si Alma Moreno at ang jowa nitong si Gerald Madrid, hindi idinedemanda ng misis ni Gerald ng adultery dahil officially ay married pa rin naman sila ni Gerald.” (MNS)

Marvin admits to being a father of twins

MANILA --- Marvin Agustin has finally admitted that he will soon become a father to twins.

The twins’ mother is not from showbiz, although she has lots of friends in the business. She is not, and was never, Marvin’s girlfriend.

“It just happened,” said their friends, “and she’s not holding him responsible for it. She is not even demanding that he marries her.

“She’s independent and can support the babies herself. She has her own business (pre-school) and belongs to a well-known clan from the North.”

Marvin finally broke his silence when he was interviewed by Boy Abunda in “The Buzz.” (MNS)
