Rufa Mae in three new comedies

MANILA --- Rufa Mae Quinto is in the cast of three new comedies. For Unitel, she has just finished La Visa Loca playing the role of a carnival mermaid who falls in love with Robin Padilla. In Regal’s Hari ng Sablay, she plays the love interest of Bearwin Meily who’s being launched as a solo star in the movie. In “Ako Legal Wife”, she plays the mistress of Jay Manalo who shares him with Dina Bonnevie and Cherry Pie Picache.

“I feel lucky na I’m so busy when other stars have no film offers at all,” says Rufa Mae, who is also seen regularly on GMA-7’s “Bubble Gang,” “Idol Ko si Kap,” and “SOP.” “In “La Visa Loca”, I felt so flattered when I learned na marami silang pinagpilian for my role. Ma’am Sharon Cuneta, who’s our producer, said I’m her personal choice, but she doesn’t know if Robin would accept me. When they asked Robin, he said daw na ako rin ang gusto niya. Suwerte ko, di ba? I’m really overwhelmed na gusto ako ni Maíam Sharon kasi ang tali-talino niya. Wish ko talaga na sana, ganoon din ako.”

Sharon butts in at this point and tells her: “Wish ko naman na sana akin ang katawan mo. Pagkakakitaan ko ‘yun. I already lost 14 lbs, pero hindi halata kasi I have to lose 500 lbs. more!” and she laughs heartily.

Robin plays the role of a man whose dream is to migrate to the US. How about Rufa Mae, if she were given the chance to migrate, would she do it? “Honestly, I want to have their blue passport kasi they can go anywhere na wala nang visa. But then, I’ll have to think twice as my family is here.”

She says her boyfriend, Rudy Hatfield, whose working papers are still being held by the immigration bureau, was asking her earlier to move to the US but she’s having second thoughts about it.

“Kahit sumama man ako, I’m sure babalik din ako because my work is here. Ang dami ko na ring businesses dito, including a travel agency. Alangan namang basta iwanan ko na lang lahat.”

How come there’s a rumor that they’ve broken up?

“Hindi lang kami nagkikita lately kasi we hardly have time for each other. Pero nagte-text naman kami lagi sa isaít isa.” (MNS)

Paolo not afraid of sex video circulation

MANILA --- “Extra Challenge” and “S Files” host Paolo Bediones is not afraid of the rumor that a sex video of him will be circulated soon.

“My conscience is clear,” he says. “I know wala akong ginagawang ganoon and if theyíd ever show one, Iím sure hindi ako ëyun.”

Some folks say his alleged sex video is just a way of promoting his much awaited bold appearance in “The C Show: Carter Underwear Fashion Show,” at the Araneta Coliseum on May 21.

“Iím really preparing for that show, but not through a sex video. I now try my best to be in good shape para hindi naman ako mapahiya. Iíve been offered to endorse other underwear brands before but I turned them down as I didnít feel Iím ready for it. But this time, palagay ko, ready na ako. Being a Carter model has made me more conscious, physically and mentally.”

He ís not going to bare his butt like other underwear models do.

“You can be sexy naman without showing too much skin. I want to show that even if you have a wholesome personality, you can still be daring without discarding your clean image. Letís face it, Iím primarily a TV host, so hindi naman puedeng basta maghubad na lang ako. I still have to protect my being a TV host kaya walang kalaswaan for me. Youíll be seeing a different side of me in the fashion show, but still done with taste and finesse.”

He adds that “The C Show” will not be just like any ordinary undie fashion show.

“The concept will show try to get on a higher level. There will be new bodies to see as they model Carterís latest line of undies, but there will be an X factor that will differentiate it from other undie shows theyíve seen before.” (MNS)

Sandara just being herself

Sandara Park

MANILA --- Korean teen star Sandara Park said she’s being herself that’s why people love her.

Asked why she thinks she became popular, Park said: “I don’t know maybe [the fans] can see that I’m being true to them.”

Or maybe I’m just being myself,” she added.

Director Joey Reyes believes Park is committed to honing her acting skills.

“Sandy, you deserve kung ano mang pagmamahal ang dumadating sa ‘yo dahil pinaghirapan mo ‘yan,” Reyes said.

“Maniwala ka sa iyong kakayahan dahil you are Sandara,” he added.

Park was a finalist in ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Teen Quest. Although she did not win the contest, she won the Texter’s Choice Award plum as the audience’s favorite.

Park stars in the romantic flick “Can This Be Love” with Hero Angeles. (MNS)
