 MANILA --- There’s no doubt now that Angel Locsin is the sexiest Darna ever. She is No. 1 in the FHM Magazine poll of the country’s 100 sexiest women.
And to think her pictorials in the said men’s magazine are very coy and conservative compared to the very revealing ones done by other more daring actresses.
“It’s really flattering kasi hindi naman ako classified as a sexy actress,” says Angel. “The first time they included me in the poll, No. 10 lang ako. Then naging No. 6, and now, No. 1 na.”
What do people find sexy in her? “Honestly, I don’t know po. Kasi, if you’d ask me personally, I don’t find myself sexy. Sa akin, when I dress up or move, wala lang. It’s just my normal self. Sabi naman nila, the more nagpipilit kang mag-project na sexy, the more na hindi ka nagiging sexy sa mata ng iba.”
She’s happy that “Darna” is consistent in being a toprater. People now even use her Darna shout as their ringtone in their cellphones. “Dahil dito, mas pinagaganda namin ang show. Halos araw-araw na nga kami nagte-taping to make each episode faster in pacing.”
Sunshine Cruz is said to be so fond of her now that she’s in the second month of her pregnancy with her and Cesar Montano’s third baby.
How does she feel about this? “Nakakatuwa. Sa akin daw siya naglilihi. Sana, paglabas ng bata, sumisigaw na rin ng Darna!” (MNS)

MANILA --- In a strange, bizarre sort of way, Diana Zubiri seems to have benefited from the ban imposed by SM Cinemas on “R”-rated films. Because of the ban, she has been getting roles that require her to bare more of her acting talent instead of her flesh.
 Viewers saw the first glimpse of the serious actress in Diana when she appeared in “Liberated .” In that movie (and its sequel “Liberated 2”), Diana played a role that was the direct opposite of who she is in real life.
Now, in her latest project for Seiko Films, “ Bikini Open” —helmed by award-winning director Jeffrey Jeturian —Diana gets to essay another meaty role that will stretch her acting abilities to the limit. In the movie, Diana plays Gail , a showbiz wannabe who joins a bikini pageant.
Playing her love interest is Seiko contract star Alfred Vargas who stars as Ross , a tricycle driver so in love with Gail that he allows himself to be bullied into joining the contest just so he can be close to her.
According to Diana, she found her role in “Liberated” more difficult, acting-wise, because the sexually-liberated character who slept with a different man at every turn was very far from who she is in real life. In “Bikini Open,” her character was more relaxed. But “Bikini Open” was also challenging in its own way because for the first time, Diana had the opportunity to be directed by Jeturian, who has established a reputation for being very tough on his actors.
“Mabusisi siya, kaya medyo matagal talaga [ ang shooting]. Totoo pala ang sinasabi ng mga tao tungkol sa kanya. Pero kahit ganoon, magaling siya. Ang galing niya sa pag-mo -motivate,” says Diana.
Perhaps the best proof of the new respect Diana has gained is her role on GMA-7’s new primetime fantaserye “ Encantadia” where she shares stellar billing with Karylle, Sunshine Dizon and Iza Calzado . Together, the four of them play diwatas representing the four elements of water, wind, fire and earth.
“Ngayon, sa movies na lang ako nagpapa-sexy,” says Diana. In “Bikini Open,” there will be quite a bit of baring and daring, as the film is classified as a sex comedy. But it’s not an ordinary sex comedy, says its director Jeffrey Jeturian. The film is a “ mockumentary “ (false documentary) that takes a penetrating look at bikini pageants and media exploitation.
Diana doesn’t want to say anything else about the movie for fear of giving away the suspense. But like everyone else, we’re going to be waiting for May 18, when the movie is slated to open in Metro Manila theaters. It’s time to witness the birth of Diana Zubiri, actress!
