One Rockwell Z-type units: Redefining Perspectives

HAVE a cup of coffee as you watch the sleepy metro stir from your breakfast nook. Or catch a breathtaking sunset over the bay as you relax and sip a glass of wine. Why not have both?

Own a Z-type unit at Number One Rockwell and experience the best of both worlds.

“High-rise residential projects put a premium on horizons or views that it can offer future residents. Units on higher floors provide more unobstructed views, creating prime residential spaces,” explained Val Soliven, Rockwell Land Corporation VP for Sales and Marketing.

She added, “With the Z-type design, we have raised the bar and created a new premium for residential spaces. Our Z-type units span the width of the building, which affords our future residents different vistas from one end to another.”

There are two kinds of residential units with Z-type design to choose from: split-level one- or two-bedroom units and the lofts.

Z-type split-level units have the main entrance, living and dining rooms, kitchen, and toilet and bath room all on the lower floor on one end and the bedroom on the upper floor at the opposite end.

The Z-type lofts, on the other hand, have redefined the concept of the Asian version of shop-houses. Not only is it raised above ground and fitted into a tower to play up its loftiness or the elements of space, air and light that go with it.

Number One Rockwell is a two-tower project set to rise on a 1-hectare block situated at the center’s gateway on Rockwell Drive. Its cutting-edge design, new features and innovative offering will surely raise the bar once more for prime residential property.

Quaint retail outlets and a piazza on the ground level retain the charm of this popular Rockwell breakfast nook. An elevated circular private drop-off for residents, Z-type residential units and the roof-deck amenities level are just some of the innovations incorporated in the design of Number One Rockwell.

Rockwell Center, home of Number One Rockwell, is an inner-city development that integrates residential, office, educational, entertainment, and shopping into a self-contained community. Developed by Rockwell Land Corporation, Rockwell Center sits on prime residential and commercial land adjacent to the Makati Central Business District, considered the Philippines’ capital for trade and commerce.

Catch the open house exhibit of Number One Rockwell in Jersey City on April 1 and 2, at Doubletree Hotel Jersey City, 455 Washington Boulevard, Jersey City, N.J.

New play about RP-US war opens off-Broadway run

NEW YORK --- A play about the Filipino-American War at the turn of the 20th century opened on March 8 at the Lion Theater in New York City’s Theater Row.

The play, “Savages”, is “about war and its consequences, for both victors and victims—exploring the narrow distance between the two. It is set in the midst of the Philippine-American Conflict in 1902, a war that was a defining moment for the Philippines but has been almost forgotten in the United States. The play explores the situation through the eyes of four characters: the general currying favor with Washington; the Marine major on trial for war crimes; the green young recruit; and the Filipina who is their most human contact to an alien environment.”

The play was written by Anne Nelson—the Columbia professor who leapt from academic obscurity to theatrical fame when Flea Theatre artistic director Jim Simpson asked her to write one of the first post-9/11 plays, “The Guys”, and then produced it with stars Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray.

As a journalist, Nelson has covered the Philippines during the time of President Cory Aquino.

The cast includes Julie Danao-Salkin, most recently seen on Broadway as Yoko Ono in Lennon, Brett Holland, Jim Howard and James Matthew Ryan.

Anne Nelson won the Livingston Award for international reporting on the Philippines in 1989. “I had delved into Filipino history when I was working in Manila in the late 1980s,” the author said in a prepared statement, “and in recent years I’ve been haunted by the way the American military experience there was a foreshadowing of things to come.”

“The Guys” went on to be revived many times by The Flea, with actors such as Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Swoosie Kurtz, Helen Hunt, Dan Lauria and Bill Irwin. It was also produced nationwide, and made into a film starring Sigourney Weaver and Anthony LaPaglia.

Chris Jorie will direct. Back House Productions will present the work.
