All Asia Food Fest comes to New York

FOR food and beverage professionals who want to tap into fusion food’s booming business, a trip to the upcoming All Asia Food is an absolute must.

After savoring success in LA, the leading trade event for Asian food products and beverages comes again to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Tuesday, November 14 (10 am–5 pm) and Wednesday, November 15 (10 am-4 pm) this year. Restaurant owners and operators, retailers, wholesaler and distributors can expect an inspiring array of authentic tastes including spices, sauces, curries, kimchi, fruits, snacks, beverages and staples like rice and noodles.

The recent show in LA gave buyers a wider range of products to spice up their food racks than just Asian tastes. “Having 6,000 buyers from Wal-Mart, Costco, and California Kitchen, more than 5,500 visitors and over 9,000 attendees in direct contact with more than 500 exhibitors’ booths, I can consider this show a big success,” states Brian Randall, Group Vice President of Diversified Business Communications, the show organizer.

City Harvest (http://www.cityharvest.org) and the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty (http://metcouncil.brinkster.net/index2.html) are scheduled to receive food donations from hundreds of the food trade show exhibitors at the close of the NY show.

Rica Peralejo headlines Papa Oom Mow Mow

PAPA Oom Mow Mow is not a comedy show but will certainly be a night of “fun”. Taking inspiration from the hits of the 60s, 70s, 8’s and 90’s and the present, the show is a combination of great performances of local artists and talents with audience participation.

Leading the local guest list is Rachel Ann Wolfe.

Before deciding to settle down in NY/NJ, Rachel, a dedicated homemaker and mother, was a famous movie actress in the Philippines. She was also a Viva recording artist.

Rachel is the daughter of Philippine Queen of Jazz, Annie Brazil, who still performs in New York City, and who graces the US concert scenes occasionally.

Rachel Ann will certainly delight the crowd with her alluring voice, style and class.

Fresh from their victory at the “Bandafest 2004”, the San Caterba Band, has been a much sought-after band in concert productions, fundraising events and private parties. Their repertoire of songs range from instrumentals of the Ventures of the 50s. The Beatles hits, OPMs of the 70’s, 80’s 90’s and present hits. They will surely rock the house, so put on your dancing shoes.

Chapter Two, a four-member pop/rock singing group is already a powerhouse in the concert scene. They were the front act for Gary V’s Las Vegas concert and most recently did backup vocals for the famous couple, Martin and Pops, during their concert at the Mohegan Sun resort in Connecticut.

Most important is that their original song “Real Me” is a nominee for the AAA Pop Style of the Year at the 16th Annual International Los Angeles Musical Awards. This is certainly a great honor and we wish them all the luck!

Robertino Lim, the grand champion of PAFCOM’s Filipino Idol, has been invited to front act in major concerts. His suave style and standards repertoire always excite the ‘Michael Buble” fans in the audience.

A newcomer in the scene, Francis Cruz, continues to entertain his audience with his good looks and diverse style. His voice coach, Lerrick Santos, predicts a bright singing future for this young, appealing artist, as he continues to grace the concert scenes.

The highlight and the main feature of the evening is Miss Rica Peralejo. She’s hailed as one of the most daring young actresses of her time. And as such, Rica’s stature in the industry has been a whirlwind of a ride and has yet to be followed.

Rica starred in several TV shows, including the popular youth-oriented TV dramas TGIS and H2K. She even had an album of her own. Now, Rica is one of the hottest, versatile young celebrities in Philippine showbiz. She can sing, dance, and entertain -- an ultimate performer. With Rica, there is always something to look forward to.
