Casting call for “V. Monologues”

THE Filipina Women’s Network (ffwn.org) through its Filipinas Against Violence campaign will collaborate once again with Eve Ensler’s V-Day organization. The Campaign is now on its second year in New York.

This will be the second year an all-Filipina production of “The Vagina Monologues” and “Usaping Puki” will be performed in New York City. In June 2006, the New York production raised funds for local community service agencies as part of V-Day’s first-ever Until The Violence Stops city-wide festival. The Vagina Monologues (TVM) and Usaping Puki are V-Day all-Filipina productions and will be presented in English and Tagalog.

TVM 2007 Directors are Elena Mangahas (Board Co-Chair of the Little Manila Foundation and Giovannie Pico (Actor).

This is a call for Filipina performers, theater directors and production volunteers in the New York area! We invite Filipina women of all ages and backgrounds to audition for Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues and the Tagalog version, Usaping Puki.

The cast and crew of past productions included students, homemakers, community leaders, actors, senior and mid-level managers, artists, professional and aspiring actors, administrative staff, teachers, nurses, local politicians, and a diverse roster from the Filipino community. You need not be a professional actor or have extensive acting or theater experience to participate in this community production.

2004, 2005 and 2006 TVM Cast Members are once again invited to audition for new roles and monologues. Filipina transwomen are also invited to audition for a special monologue. “They Beat the Girl out of my Boy... or So They Tried” was written by Eve Ensler to highlight the prejudice that the transwomen community faces.
