FOR Nanding and Mila Mendez, life is a series of Special Events.
This highly successful entrepreneurial husband and wife team is the driving force behind Special Edition Press (SEP), the premiere provider for world-class events for the Filipino Community in the United States.
The couple’s success stems from their shared vision of providing avenues for globally minded Filipinos to shine. Their hard work and devoted dedication to their business has propelled SEP to unparalleled heights in achieving its goals. In order to ensure SEP is run in the most efficient manner, Nanding and Mila have divided the company’s managerial duties in line with their individual skills.
Fernando “Nanding” Mendez spearheads the organization as its President. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, College of Fine Arts, and have worked in many advertising companies as Art Director both in the Philippines and here in the U.S. He directs the strategic thrusts of the organization using acumen honed from more than 25 years in publicity related fields such as advertising and publication, garnering a string of awards for art and design throughout.
Complementing the partnership and serving as a more-than-capable second-in-command is Mila Mendez, who serves as the Executive Vice President for Marketing and Community Relations. A seasoned veteran of marketing, media research and business management, Mila worked with some of the biggest names in the corporate world, such as Knight-Ridder and Dow Jones, before joining SEP in 1994. Mila’s high level of competence stems not only from her business experience, but also her ability to connect with communities. Mila finds fulfillment as an active community leader, involving herself in social and spiritual affairs and events that seek to serve the Philippine-American community.
This ideal mix of industry skill and community-conscious disposition allows Mila to direct SEP’s publicity endeavors in ways that are attractive - yet wholesome and socially relevant. They are gifted with two sons, Nathan & Mervin, who are into computer science and films, respectively.
