NEW YORK CITY -- One of the hottest Asian-American bands, The Happy Analogues, will be launching its debut album entitled ‘Lilacs and Politics’ on Saturday May 5, 2007 at one of New York City’s hottest clubs, The Rebel.
The show is an 18+ show and it will also feature some of the best bands in the scene: PI, Bleud, The Kuwagos, Noizytoyz, triCKBag, Blue Mellon Pop and Qwadra.
The 11-track album was produced by Ted Reyes with additional production by Ronnie Lao, engineered by Tony Murgola, and released by Soulworks Records.
Soulworks Records is the premiere Filipino-American independent record label, The CD contains songs that have become favorites among their loyal supporters: ‘Jellybeans Forever’, ‘Crazy Girl For You’, ‘Shameless’, ‘The Universe is Mine’, ‘It’s Okay, I’ll Stay’, ‘Beautiful Pain’, ‘Hodgepodge’ and more.

ISAGANI Morales, president of Topnotch Communications, recently announced the hiring of Efren Dato as marketing consultant for the Philippine-American-Hispanic Expo.
The Expo will be held on May 27-28 at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center of Raritan Center in Edison, NJ.
Dato is the executive director of Hamilton Street Business and Community Corporation, the management authority of the Special (Business) Improvement District within the Franklin Township’s Office of Economic Development of Somerset County of New Jersey.
He also manages the neighborhood preservation program funded by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs in improving a certain neighborhood and commercial sections of Hamilton Street district and the redevelopment area. He is also a commissioner of Sewerage Authority of Franklin Township and a lay chaplain of Fire District 3.
Presently, Dato is also as the board chair of newly organized “Alliance for Transforming Entrepreneurship and Advocacy for Minorities” (A-TEAM) and is working closely with New Jersey Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula to empower and promote minority business. The latter is the assembly deputy speaker and vice-chair of commerce and economic development committee.
Dato holds a Master of Science in Training and Human Resource Management degree from England’s Leicester University, a diploma in Industrial Relations from the University of the Philippines, a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and has completed the Leadership Education Program of Harvard University’s JFK School of Government.

RIDING on the popularity of Karoke singing, Perlas ng Silangan restaurant and Topnotch Electronics have launched a search for Karaoke singing champions in a weekly competition at Perlas ng Silangan Restaurant in 69-09 Roosevelt ave., Woodside, New York.
Last week, Jona Bayle, belted a ballad called “Halik (Kiss)” and won a brand-new DVD player and Karaoke for beating other amateur singers in the competition.
“I like singing. It’s my real passion. I sing everyday and it makes me happy,” said Bayle.
Nell Castellvi, owner of Perlas ng Silangan, said he has been holding a sing-along event in his restaurant for many years.
“Filipinos love to sing. I just follow what my customers want,” said Castellvi.
The restaurant is also holding a dance contest called “Itaktak Mo,” popularized in Manila’s noontime show “Eat Bulaga,” every Friday.
Isagani Morales, president of Topnotch Communications, said the best Karaoke performer and the finalists would perform live in the “Expo Pop Superstar,” portion of the Philippine American-Hispanic Expo on May 27 -28 at the Raritan Convention Center in Edison, New Jersey.
The event celebrates Filipino-Hispanic culture and would provide entertainment and business to participants and exhibitors.
Two weeks ago, May Allan Dy won the Karaoke singing contest in the restaurant.
The live competition starts at 9 in the evening.
