APO, Nannette, Heart conquer Atlantic City

THE Atlantic city Boardwalk Hall swayed to the tune of Filipino fun and music last Saturday, May 5.. The Pinoy Musik Festival, another successful event of Special Edition Press, Inc. (SEP), did not fail to deliver a show filled with good music and a hefty dose of laughter.

Music legends Danny Javier, Boboy Garrovillo, and Jim Paredes, collectively known as the APO Hiking Society entered amidst the cheers of Filipinos from every generation whose lives they touched with their music.

The APO entertained the audience with their hits, notably “Mahal Kita” and a hilarious rendition of “Doobidoobidoo”.

They also took everyone on a nostalgic trip down memory lane by talking about memories of the Philippine homelands before launching into a medley of songs old and new beginning with the heart tugging song “Paano Mo Nalalaman”.

Comedienne Nanette Inventor had the audience in stitches throughout her act as she acted out her persona of “Tiya Munding”, a caregiver whose hilarious misadventures carried behind them a tale of the struggle of the Filipino immigrant in the United States.

She also sang old Filipino hits such as “Salamat, Salamat, Musika,” that did not fail to touch the hearts of even the most stoic in the audience.

And speaking of hearts, charming young star Heart Evangelista played to her fans young and old alike, winning applause with her youthful energy and sweet voice.

Her songs ranged from her hit “One” to popular love songs like “Please Be Careful With My Heart”, “Ipaglalaban Ko”, and the newest cut from her soon to be released album - “Hold On To Your Dreams”.

As is the norm for any SEP event, members of the audience - who left feeling nostalgic about their Philippine homelands - enthusiastically commented that they had a great time and that the ticket was well worth the price of admission. SEP once again commented that it will continue to bring bigger and better shows than these in the future in line with its commitment to bring only the best in quality Filipino entertainment.

Special Edition’s next big project is the Philippine Fiesta in America, the largest indoor gathering of Filipinos in the east coast attracting over 23,000 visitors. It will be held on August 18-19 this year, at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, New Jersey.

The event will feature top TV & concert entertainers Pops Fernandez and Piolo Pascual.
