NINE Filipino Americans will receive Community Outreach Awards from Topnotch Communications during the May 27-28 Philippine American Hispanic Expo at the New Jersey Exposition Center in Edison.
The Awardees are:
Robert Perez de Tagle, Communications; Roberto and Cynthia Demetillo, Community Development Luis Pedron, Entertainment; Maria Consuelo Velasco, Health Care; Carlos Almirante, Human Welfare; April Talangbayan, Performing Arts; Benrome Abao, Business Entrepreneurship and president of Homebuyers Mortgage Company; and Jerry Austria, Retail, business, entrepreneurship.
Edison Mayor Jun Choi, together with Consul Cecilia Rebong will hand the awards.
The awardees will be honored for advancing the cause of Filipino community in New Jersey and for supporting various causes.
These Filipino Americans are also role models and committed in contributing their talents, skills and resources for Filipino Americans.

ON Saturday, June 16, the MPG Keyboard Artists and Friends, Inc. will present 25 keyboard artists of the Marilou Padilla-Gallardo Piano/Organ/Keyboard Studio in their 2007 gala evening keyboard concert extravaganza and award ceremony.
“An Evening of Music and Memories” is set at 7:00 pm in the John Addison Concert Hall, Harmony Hall Regional Center; 10701 Livingston Road, Fort Washington, MD. This concert’s theme features musical selections of yesteryears “down memory lane” particularly period music of the 1930’s, 40’s,and 50’s from the movies, jazz, rhythm and blues in to the pop music of today.
Classical music as well as Filipino masterpieces will also be highlighted. This existing concert will be hosted by Lt. Col. Michael Carroll (retired) and Mrs. Catherine Chambers-Carroll. For reservations and more information, call the studio at (301)567-7973.
Also on Saturday, June 9, 40 students of the Marilou Padilla-Gallardo Piano/Organ/Keyboard Studio will perform in a matinee piano concert “A Morning Musicale 2007” at the St. Columba Church at 11:30 am.

Gallardo, owner of the music studio with 98 currently enrolled keyboard students, is also the founder of MPG Keybboard Artists and Friends Inc.; a non-profit organization sponsoring cultural and concert community events to promote awareness in the performing arts.
She was the recipient of the 2003 Jordan Kitt Memorial Grant chosen by the Maryland State Music Teachers Association in teacher enrichment and student development.
In October 2006, she was a member of an international jury in the international piano competition sponsored by the World Pedagogy Piano Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia.
Currently, she is also an active member of The Music Teachers National Association Maryland State Music Association, national Guild of Piano Teachers and the Prince George’s County Music Teachers Association.

DR. FELICITAS Balleteros-Tobias, the 80 year old cancer survivor, chairman of Chicago’s Tobias Healing Institute and author of many medical materials on “How to reverse Aging” will be among the participants of the Fil-Am Expo at the Raritan Center in New Brunswick on May 27-28, 2007.
Dr. Tobias, graduated from the University of Santo Tomas. She currently specializes in cancer, metabolic and thyroid disorders, diabetes, obesity, digestive disorder, liver management, osteoporis screening, herbal body wrap, lymphatic drainage and PH balancing. Her booth will promote the health benefits of oxidized water (“is your drinking water safe?”)
Her company is currently collaborating the third annual highly successful business and health tour to the Philippines called Baliklahi in mid-August 2007, with Georgetown & Company and Beauty Holidays Phils., headed by Cara Mia Arevalo and Cris T. Aquino, respectively.
The trip is also collaborating with board certified surgeon Dr. James Joaquino of New Life Center and Ricky Reyes Salons Spa.
It will include visits to Vigan, Laoag and Calatagan, Batangas.
The costs of the 7 nights/8day tour is $2,995.00 per person. The fee includes R/T tickets, double occupancy accommodation, local and provincial tours and all elegant VIP receptions. The land package will cost $1,495.00. Travel agencies and community organizations will be provided discounts and free R/T ticket only for a party of eight couples. Participants may invite family members from Manila for an added cost.
