Gala Reception Launches The
2007 Philippine Fiesta In America

THE Fiesta Fever is in the air, as exciting activities are being set as a prelude to the biggest gathering of Filipinos in the East Coast - the Philippine Fiesta in America!

On August 17, at 7 pm, the Sheraton in Newark, NJ proudly plays host to The Philippine Fiesta 2007 Gala Reception (Dinner and Ballroom Dancing). This prestigious event serves as a kick off to the Fiesta itself - which opens on August 19-20 2007, at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus New Jersey.

Twenty Outstanding Filipinos Abroad
(TOFA) Announced

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 10 - The following individuals have been confirmed as the 2007 Twenty Outstanding Filipinos Abroad(TOFA)by the TOFA Panel Board of Judges headed by Nonoy and Aida Mendoza of the Filipino Image Magazine, the Pinoy Global Online News (PGON), and The(RAM)Roxanne Andrea Mendoza Memorial Foundation.

The project was initiated in 1990 and has been commended by the governments of the United States, Canada and the Philippines.

The 3-day annual event starts on Aug. 30, 2007 with an informal get together for the 2007 awardees and their invited guests, at the Presidential Suites of the Mendozas, followed by a VIP Luncheon commemorating the 20th anniversary of the founding of Filipino Image Magazine.

On Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 starting at 7:00 p.m., is the prestigious Gala Banquet & Ball Award Presentation. Dance music is provided by the popular Filipino Band from New York, D’Executives, with Tony Camacho, former Manila Hilton popular vocalist.

Monroy’s ‘First Bloom’ Inspires

THE just concluded one-woman show of Emilia Monroy at the Philippine Center in Manhattan, First Bloom, secured her theme of re-awakening in over 30 of her more recent paintings, expressing her resolute sense of joy and compassion.

At the ribbon-cutting were Phil. Center Manager Gavino Abaya, Consul General Cecilia Rebong, and NAFFAA trustee Friedes Valbuena. Monroy’s works have been exhibited in New York, New Jersey, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, and in Manila, China, Hong Kong, and Buenos Aires. Her finger-painting works using oil and acrylic on paper or canvas “reflect awe in God-inspired images through vivid color combinations.”

Ms. Monroy’s works have been exhibited in New York, New Jersey, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, and in Asia- Manila, China and Hong Kong.
