Eckstein Exhibit Features Family, Nature
By Robert P. De Tagle
NEW YORK– The thing that you start thinking as you view Trini Eckstein's art work is how happy this person must be.

Trinidad Ronquillo Eckstein was born and raised in the Philippines, the youngest daughter in a family of 12 children. Her father, who managed a rice mill as well as their hat manufacturing and exporting company, Ronquillo Hermanos, was a composer and pianist. She recalls frequent private concerts in their home.

Recently, she held a one-woman show in Manhattan, entitled ARTempo: Works of Trini Eckstein. After retiring from a career that included both pharmacy and medical technology, the former president of the Central Philippine University Alumni Assn.-USA went on to study sketching and drawing at the Art Students League of New York as well as painting with well-known New York artist Diana Willis.

Employing both impressionist and realist styles in her works that evoke love of nature and gentility, Trini was overwhelmed when she won the top prize, the Grumbacher Award, at the Hudson Artists of New Jersey competition for her oil painting "My Porcelain Collection." Says she, "Even today, I continue to delight in moments of artistic creation for my friends." For more information on Trini's works, contact artempony@gmail.com.
