ON October 25, 2007, CORE held the fourth installment of its signature Speaker Series event highlighting a panel of four highly accomplished Filipino American innovators from industries spanning the arts, business, fashion and technology.
Analisa Balares, Lando Felix, Sarah Gambito and Victor Lirio (see bios below) comprised the panel and captivated the audience with candid insights and inspirational stories.
“I was truly inspired by the speakers... First off, the diversity of the panel -- background/ personality/career -- was impressive and although the common theme was entrepreneurial leadership, at the end of the day, it was their differences that added value to the event (sic),” said first-time attendee Laura Bermudez, a senior Financial Analyst at Escada.
“The excellent questions from the crowd and moderator combined with the honest, sincere answers of the panel made for a successful event. I look forward to future CORE events as this event was truly inspirational.”
Carlo Damocles, the owner of an IT consulting firm called MPWRD, Inc. is another first time attendee who was also benefited from the event. He commented, "This Speaker Series event organized by CORE really inspired me. It revealed a new direction I hadn't considered before."
Although the panelists came from diverse backgrounds, they all shared the common goal of relentlessly pursuing their respective passions.
"It was personally thrilling for me to be part of this panel and am honored to have appeared alongside Analisa, Lando and Sarah for whom I have the utmost respect and admiration," said Victor Lirio, Founder & Artistic Director, Diverse City Theater Company.
“Even though we come from different industries, we share the same passion to succeed and affect people in a meaningful way. I am grateful to the CORE leadership for continuing to provide a positive, inspiring and empowering platform for our community."

THE PIDCI Board of Directors 2007-2008 Annual Meeting was held last November 6, 2007 and President Raul Estrellado appointed Antero Martinez and Vivian Velasco to fill in the two vacancies and serve as 2007-2009 Members of the PIDCI Board of Directors. Present at the meeting were Directors Dr.Bernie de la Merced, Gerry Austria, Joji Jalandoni, Sofia Abad, Tambi Wycoco.
At the same meeting, the Board of Directors subsequently approved to vote in Fe Martinez as the Director who will complete the 2007-2008 unexpired term on the Board of Raul Estrellado. They will join the other PIDCI Directors Arnie Rosario,Sr., Mario Garcia, Francis Sison, Rev. Gaudencio Soriano and Ronnie Atinaja on the Board. Manny Quintal was appointed to be the Legal Adviser for PIDCI in the coming year.
Sofia Abad was elected Vice President; Antero Martinez and Vivian Velasco were elected Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
For it’s first official community function, PIDCI will be joining the annual 9-day novena mass celebration “Simbang Gabi sa Konsulado” hosted by the Philippine Consulate. PIDCI is one of the collaborating sponsors for the Simbang Gabi sa Konsulado on December 19, 2007 (Wednesday) at 6:30 pm. Other sponsors for that evening’s Mass are the Philippine Consulate General, Philippine Center Management Board and the Philippine American Friendship Committee (PAFCOM).
