JERSEY CITY – Topnotch Electronics' 4th Annual Phil - US Expo project slated on May 17 and 18, 2008 at the New Jersey National Guard Armory in Jersey City (678 Montgomery St & Summit Ave) planning stage comes into full blast. Expected to attended during those two days are from 15, 000 - 20, 000 Filipino Americans from the Tri State NY/NJ/CT area. During the May 17 & 18 EXPO, shuttles vans will be provided for guests at the Journal Square area in front of the Dunkin Donuts at Summit Ave)
Philippine's leading network, GMA Channel 7, will be the source of the lead performers for the May 17 & 18 Expos. Last year GMA brought to the Phil-US Expo top billing performers Dennis Trillo, Ara Mina and Gladys Guevarra who wowed the audience with their talent and wit. They proved to be real crowd drawers. The 2008 EXPO performers will be announced next week.
Rachel Ann Wolfe (come backing former beauty queen now slowly earning a name for herself as a singer like her mom, Annie Brazil, the Philippine's exponent of jazz), is in Manila right now to represent the EXPO.
This year, PHIL.-US EXPO '08 led by TOPNOTCH CEO Mr Gani Morales will be composed of a power team of Media and Successful Business People who have a lot of experiences producing live shows and events. The following are part of the Power Team: Herbert Y. Magtoto of the Pinoy Chronicle, John Ynayan of Newstar Philippines, Lito Gajilan of Filipino Express, Luis Pedron of Planet Philippines and Fanclubx.com, Emmanuel L. Agbanlog of Filipino Times and Asian Review and Manny Quisumbing of Filipino Asian Bulletin. Automatically, they are contracted as Industrial Partners. Committed producers are Group Ole, Scat Entertainment, EdSun Entertainment, Miracles Entertainment, ReAl Entertainment, and MP Entertainment. Perlas Ng Silangan, Sebello Realty, Inc., and Efren Dato and the Phil-Am Chamber of Commerce of NJ are also giving their support at the recent Jan 19, 2008 meeting which were attended by Gani Morales, Herbert Magtoto, Marisse Panlilio, Satrick Uy, Cathy Uy, Grace Labaguis, Emmanuel Agbanlog, Danny Pagsambugan, Dr Ramon Legarda and Luis Pedron. The new committess added were: Engineering committe: Danny Pagsambugan, Stage and Production Management by Marisse Panlilio, Local Talents: Satrick Uy and Archie D, Community Awards: Luis Pedron.
In addition to the program, Danny Pagsambugan will be bringing to the Phil-US EXPO '08 a Fashion Show by designers Barge Ramos and Edgar Madamba.
Regarding ticket sales: all local newspapers will provide $1 off coupons in their newspaper prior to the event. Tickets will be sold for $15 advance and $18 at the door. A popular suggestion was a special discount provided to smaller children and a special children's program will be added to the stage perfromances.
During that two days, the Fraternity APO Alpha Pi Omega will provide the security and ushering services for the EXPO.
The Annual Topnotch Community Awards will be given out to outstanding community leaders in NY and NJ area. It will also be announced that 10 lucky Filipino American Non Profit Organization will be given a free booth at the EXPO. DURING the World's AIDS day celebration held at the office of APICHA in Broadway, Chinatown last December 1, 2007, Msgr. Oscar Aquino expresses his strong awareness campaign for the prevention of HIV/AIDS not only to the A&PI communities but to the whole universe as well.
In his message he implored the help of the Almighty for wisdom to the researchers and scientists to discover better drugs to cure the pandemic. He also encouraged the community to help combat the spread of the disease and for the caregivers and members of the families of victims they must fully understand the plight of those already affected with the disease.
The present Miss Universe, Rio Mori of Japan, also an advocate of the HIV/AIDS awareness program , attended the event.
Msgr. Aquino is a judge at the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of New York, the pastor of St. Lucy Church and will be the Grand Marshal at the Philippine Independence Day celebration on June 1, 2008.
