Fresh from her show in Italy, Pinoy singing sensation Charice Pempengco arrived last week to perform for the "Dolphy at 80" tribute to King of Comedy Dolphy. ABS-CBN.com caught up with Charice and asked her about her magical experience singing The Prayer" with the legendary tenor, Andrea Boccelli.
"’Di ba sinabi ko po sa inyo, na gusto ko pong makaduet si Andrea Bocelli. Tapos bigla na lang may nag-email tapos iniinterview nila ako, tapos may tumawag, ang sabi 'Is this Charice?', tapos sumagot nang 'This is Andrea Boccelli', naiyak ako," shared Charice.
The experience was life changing and now, she dreams to do a duet with the equally magnificent singer, Celine Dion, which is actually not far from happening since Charice has already made contacts in Hollywood, particularly the great composer David Foster.
Just like her duet with Andrea, her Maaalala Mo Kaya episode last week was a huge hit and got a lot of reviews, good and bad. Charice also shared to us her unforgettable moment taping for that show with the divine diva, ZsaZsa Padilla, who played the role of her mom.
"Super akong nag-enjoy! Napanood ko, talagang inabangan ko yung MMK. Kahit ako naiyak. Kasi first acting (stint) ko yun, tapos siyempre hindi ko ineexpect na si Miss ZsaZsa (Padilla) pa yung magple-play ng mom ko. Sobrang thankful ako." she said.
She is also considering giving more time for acting in the future but not in the soonest possible time. She said, "Nag-enjoy talaga ako e. Sabi ko, gusto ko ring mag-acting pero siyempre focus pa rin ako sa singing. Siyempre nakilala po ako ng mga tao sa aking singing, kumbaga yung acting, pa-isa-isa lang. Siyempre singer muna ako ngayon, pag tumagal hahanapin na nila yung, mag-acting kaya siya, so kung maghahanap sila (the public) ng bago, dun ako mag-aacting."
We also asked Charice for her reaction regarding the rumors going around that her Dad's camp was not so pleased with how her life story was presented in MMK, particularly Charice's lola. Charice just smiled and said, "Wala naman po. Kasi, ayoko naman pong mag-react e. Mga kamaganak ko naman po sila, ang sa akin lang po, hayaan na lang po, kumbaga siyempre, katotohanan lang naman po yung lumabas doon e.” (MNS)

Us Girls host and ASAP mainstay Iya Villania is set to march and get her college diploma from De La Salle University come early next year, with an AB Psychology degree.
"It took me four years. I'll be graduating with a degree in bachelor of arts in psychology. Originally, I wanted a business (course) but I ended up in Psych kasi iwas math (subjects). Education has always been an important thing for me. It was something that I promised myself and my family." shared Iya.
Despite her busy schedule, she was able to maintain good scholastic records and was part of the Dean's List for a number of times. She gave credit to her handler for keeping track of her schedule in and out of school. But she admits that it was quite a challenge for her to balance her time and said, "Nahirapan talaga ako. But it was something that I really wanted, so I made sure that it would work."
Her boyfriend, TV host Drew Arellano, who’s a graduate of De La Salle University, played an important role in her college undertakings. "He did encourage me to get in to La Salle. And even if may free time, me when I tell him that I have to study or to do a project, he'd respect me. Okay lang sa kanya, kahit matagal na kaming hindi nagkikita." she said.
Iya is not quite a rumor magnet, but one big rumor that came out before was about her alleged affair with a man more senior than her in Dolly Ann Carvajal’s column. Feelings got hurt and the two had not met nor settled things straight, but Iya has no qualms of making peace with Dolly. "I say hi to a lot of people who I may not be friends with. With Tita Dolly, whether or not she may be still mad at me, or kung may galit pa siya sa akin, or ewan ko. Of course, I'd still say hi to her. "
ABS-CBN.com couldn’t help but ask Iya too about the rumored romance between her good friend and fellow Myx VJ Nikki Gil, and Pinoy- DreamAcademy host Billy Crawford.
A lot of people are saying that there's something special going on between the two, but the international singer was quick to refute and cleared that what they have is just a blossoming friendship.
Iya agreed and said, "We are enjoying each other's company. I mean, I enjoy having Billy around. I don't know. As a friend, I've never pictured them kasi in that kind of light. So, I wouldn't know. But as a friend, he's nice to have around." (By MJ Felipe)

Chicosci won over five other bands for the 2008 MTV Favorite Artist of the Philippines in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The eight-year-old five member band won top honors at the superstar-studded ceremony at the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands.
The band, a contract artist of MCA-Universal Music, was officially formed in 2000 when Miguel Chavez (vocalist), Mong Alvarez (guitar), Carlos Calderon (bass) and former member Sonny Baquisal (guitar) decided to join (and win) an inter-school Battle of the Bands.
Chicosci has since graduated from an after-school activity to full-time profession.
The band now has Joel Salvador (drums) as member, with newest member Ariel Lumanlan on guitars.
Chicosci is also slowly making waves across the region, spreading their music in various countries in Southeast Asia. Aside from sharing the stage with American big-name acts such as Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte and Thursday, Chicosci has toured with other groups from Asia and Australia.
The band was part of the Crossborders event which was here and in Singapore in Dec. 2006, and of the recently-concluded Invasia Tour which covered countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
With guitarist Ariel Lumanlan, the newest addition to the group, Chicosci is currently busy writing new songs for their upcoming fifth album to be released within the year also by MCA-Universal Music.
