THIS early, the expectation is already heightening and the tension is building up to the brim as the red-letter-day of the BACK2BACK Concert draws closer. Here, two of the most in-demand Philippine Divas, Pops Fernandez and Zsa Zsa Padilla, will perform on the same stage.
Such high tension scenario unfolds soon on Saturday, Nov. 29, 7pm, at the Trump Taj Mahal, Atlantic City when they come face to face in the most touted all-star Filipino talent show with Phil. Cinema’s Comedy King Dolphy. The show is produced by Special Edition Press, Inc., ERJ Productions, and Trump Entertainment Resort.
“Tension…? I don’t think such thing prevails in the air between me and Pops. We’ve been together in a number of shows and there was never a tinge of such kind. We’re in a level of absolute professionalism unaffected by media hype or by any publicity slant. That’s some kind of puerile and pugnacious rivalry which is not our cup of tea, ” imperturbably commented by the Divine Diva as she tries to clear the air in a jestingly pouting manner… so divinely Zsa-Zsa.
“Actually, that’s true,” butted the soulful-eyed Concert Queen. “We’ve our own individuality and peculiar style as performers. We just give the best we could to entertain and please our audience. Nothing sort of rivalry or exerted effort to over-shadow the other… neither of these was an option.”
Enticing Esperanza “Zsa-Zsa” Padilla, that seductress of a singer known for her sensuous lips that congruously matched her hit song “Hiram,” has been relatively blessed in every aspect: as a respected multi-awarded dramatic-comedy actress, as an award-winning songwriter-singer-record producer (having recorded more than 13 albums), an effective TV host, a recognized theater actress (via “Larawan,” a successful and critically acclaimed full-length play), a contented life partner of Dolphy, with whom she has 2 daughters, Nicole and Zia, and a convincing product endorser.
The same qualities could also be attributed to the perennial Queen of the Philippine concert stage Pops Fernandez. Although she embraces her love life in a rather different situation, just the same, her career remains unaffected and profluent. With a multi-faceted talent and a persistent spirit incessantly on-the-go, Pops Fernandez’s career never fails to surprise her with a slew of assignments even when offers come in dearth for others. With her two sons, courtesy of her male counterpart-husband Martin Nievera, Pops is happy and content.
Treat yourself and your loved ones to a Thanksgiving Weekend and experience a rare kind of entertainment with “King of Comedy” Dolphy, “Star In A Million” champ Kris Lawrence, the “Oomph Performer” Geneva Cruz, the Prince of R n’ B” Jay R, actor director Eric Quizon together with his equally talented siblings Jeffrey, Ronnie, Boy2 and Vandolph.
The all-star BACK2- BACK Concert is brought to you by Trump Entertainment Resorts, Special Edition Press, Inc. and ERJ Productions in cooperation with TFC/ABS-CBN Global, Western Union, Philippine Airlines, Tancinco Law Offices, The Garden State Travel, Northwest Airlines, Asian Journal Publications, Inc., United Staffing Registry, Inc., Perlas Ng Silangan, Tiketan Online (Carouselpinoy.com), PNB Remittance Centers, Inc. and Direct TV.
