BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS THRU AMERICA CALLS UNLIMITED TO THE PHILIPPINES
NEW YORK– -Across the globe, hardworking kababayans feel nostalgic during holiday season. No other country in the world enjoys Christmas as the Filipinos do. These Filipino citizens forego the comforts of home and family and diligently send their hard earned savings back home so that their families can enjoy a comfortable lifestyle.

But when the yuletide season approaches, most Filipino expats and overseas workers would always have the wishful thought of "coming home and being home with family for Christmas". If they can afford it, they always choose to vacation at this time of the year in their hometowns. But for most who have to stay abroad, AMERICA CALLS bring them home via unlimited talking to their families.

Top user Fe de Lara from California calls at least 3 hours a day everyday. Before AMERICA CALLS, she would spend at least $20 a day or $600 a month. Now, she is very happy, saving money, talking until “sawa", as if she was right there in the Philippines. Plus the line is very clear!

Jun Guinto, another AMERICA CALL user calls at least 3 times a day, everyday, spending 2 to 3 hours a day talking to his family.

THE QUIZON SONS AT THE TAJ
By Bobby T. Yalong
NEW YORK– As if to subscribe to an old Filipino adage; “Kung ano ang puno ay siyang bunga” (Whatever is the tree will be its fruit) or to strongly embrace an aphorism or stress a maxim; “Ang punong bayabas ay 'di magbubunga ng manga!” (A guava tree won't bear mango), Philippine cinema's Comedy King Dolphy (born Rodolfo Quizon), has prolifically sired 18 children courtesy of 6 different women none of whom he married… a dozen and a half children majority of which chose to follow his footsteps--- that of being in the limelight… (not necessarily as a comedian like him.

Among the 18 offsprings, Dolphy's 3 sons with Baby Smith (cinematically christened Pamela Ponti whom he courted when she was barely 17 and he was 36) Eric's name became evidently synonymous with Dolphy's maybe because of his multifaceted talent plus that mestizo look that easily made him an in-demand star material (mostly in lead roles), a screenplay writer, ramp model, product endorser, and on-the-helm in some of the most distinct projects on TV and the wide screen. The other two, Ronnie and Jeffrey, are also both active in the business with the latter showing the most potential and capability to make it big.

Eric, a BS Biology alumnus from the Ateneo University, oftentimes acts as the spokesperson for his family… the entire Quizon siblings, regardless who the mothers are. That's how close he is to his sibs. He openly comes in defense of his brothers in every trouble and problem there is.

Jeffrey, more popularly known as Epi among his friends in the showbiz circle and Eric's youngest brother, is almost the perfect chip of the old block having had acted along with his father in many of his films, particularly in “Markova: Comfort Gay” where he and brother Eric both gained international recognition for their roles as the young Dolphy/Walterina Markova winning for them the Prix de la Meilleure Award in Brussels, Belgium.

Dolphy's eldest with Baby Smith is Ronnie, who is mostly cast in Channel 7's TV programs and also moonlights as a band member. He has also joined his Dad in some of his TV and movie projects especially during the earlier years… proving that the “Dolphy genes” is undoubtedly significant in his veins.

Boy2 Quizon, Dolphy's grandson from his son Manny, who, once-upon-a-showbiz era, was also an actor/comedian, cannot be far from where his uncles and other cousins have “sailed and flew” for he, himself, is blessed with numerous projects and assignments.

Having had worked in “Lupin,”“Bubble Gang,” “Home Along Da Riles,” “Quizon Avenue,” just to name a few, is more than enough to conclude that by merely bearing the “Quizon” name is already a tested trademark that is tantamount to being assured of better jobs .And who wouldn't know the one-time controversial Vandolph, Dolphy's lovechild with sexy actress Alma Moreno (hence, the moniker: coined from the first syllables of their first names, VANessa and DOLPHy) who has been the“baby” of the couple being the youngest (then) and literally huggable. Since he was a child, Vandolph had been professionally acting before the cameras and exposed under the klieg lights that made others predict the might be just another Nino Muhlach.

Everyone of them admitted being pressured when compared to Dolphy or having great expectation of them just merely being a Quizon.

“I am proud to be his son and honestly, I don't feel the pressure of being one among his sons because I know I will never live up to what he is and what he has become. I am just proud to be the son of a living legend!”Confirms Eric with a full sense of pride.

This early, Dolphy is already assured of not only one, not two but even more heirs and a long string of Quizons, not necessarily to inherit his throne but to relentlessly continue the legacy he has toiled for in the span of fifty years… if and when the time calls for him to retire or shun his back away from the glares of the spotlights. With the way his children are doing, the Quizon tribe will definitely thrive and live on!

Catch Dolphy's children Eric, Ronnie, Jeffrey, Vandolph and Boy2, when they form part of the most-awaited and well touted grandest showcase of Filipino talents to hit this part of the East Coast--- the BACK2- BACK Concert at the Trump Taj Mahal on November 29, 2008… the Fil-Am Thanksgiving Treat… the Ultimate Concert of 2008!

ANNE CURTIS: SAM 'BROKE UP' WITH ME
MANILA -- It was the decision of actor-singer Sam Milby to end their relationship, actress Anne Curtis admitted Sunday.

“For us to stop exclusively dating, it was Sam,” Curtis said when asked whose decision was it for them to stop seeing each other. “Kailangan lang niya to concentrate muna doon sa relationship niya with God.”

She admitted that she cried when Milby told her face- to- face about his decision. She said it was hard for her at first to accept Milby’s decision but she understood him.

“Naiintindihan ko siya kasi pinagdaanan ko din [‘yon],” she said.

Curtis and Milby became a couple during the first quarter of 2007 but the actress broke up with him late last year to establish her “personal relationship with God.” This year, they admitted that they were exclusively dating.

No third party

There was no third party on both sides amid rumors linking her and Milby to other artists, Curtis said.

“Mag-uusap kami. Hindi pa [kami nag-uusap] kasi pareho kaming busy, ako with Baler. Hindi tama na sa set [kami mag-u-usap] so maguusap kami pagbalik niya from Europe,” she said.

Still visibly hurt, Curtis confessed that she still has feelings for Milby. She said it would hurt her if ever she sees him with another girl but added that she will accept it and be happy for him because “that’s God’s plan for him.”

She added that they are still communicating through text messages.

“I’m looking forward na mag-usap tayo so we can fix our working relationship our friendship. I’m looking forward to just having a good talk with you again,” she said.

Curtis said a time away from Milby would also give her a chance to “fix herself.”

And to their fans, Curtis said: “Huwag kayong magalit kay Sam. Pinagdaanan ko din naman ang pinagdadaanan niya ngayon kaya ‘wag kayong magalit sa kanya. Si Sam kasi I know that he has such a good heart and I know that the least that he would want to do is to hurt me,” said Curtis.

Although admitting that emotionally, she is now better, she said she is not yet ready to go out on dates yet. (MNS)
