Fil-Am Honored With The Golden Halo Award
LOS ANGELES – On the very same day Manny Pacquiao defeated Oscar De La Hoya and made history, another Filipino also made history as Gabe Pagtama was honored for his continued successes within the new digital media age as he received the Golden Halo Award from the Southern California Motion Picture Council at the Hollywood landmark Sportsman Lodge on December 6, 2008.

With the very prestigious award, Pagtama became one of the youngest persons and first Filipino American to be honored with Academy Award winning actress Shirley Jones (from the hit television show The Partridge Family ) and Academy Award winning actress Margaret O'Brien ("That's Entertainment").

Gabe Pagtama was given "this same award as the legendary actor John Wayne had received from the council when Mr. Wayne had starred in numerous movie classics during his lifetime,” says Vice President of Entertainment Larry Covin.

Gabe has written, produced, directed, and edited numerous digital projects. He is the son of actor/producer/real estate agent Abe Pagtama and brother of Karen Pagtama, an associate producer of Bravo Channel's Emmy Nominated shows "Top Chef," "Project Runway," and "Top Design."

"I am so thankful and grateful for everyone who has helped in my collaborations, teachings, and guidance in furthering my talents and I hope to keep entertaining the world through our stories and our industry" he says.

The Southern California Motion Picture Council, a nonprofit organization founded in 1936 to help promote the best in motion pictures, encourages production of family oriented films and television programs. It promotes civic-minded, educational and cultural programs of exceptional merit and presents awards for the best in movies, television, stage plays and the performing arts.
