John Lloyd: It's Ruffa who should talk

Ruffa and John Lloyd
MANILA -- JOHN Lloyd Cruz celebrates his 26th birthday on June 24, but Star Magic already hosted a birthday lunch for him on June 17 as he's leaving soon for the Star Magic U.S. Tour. "It's going to be a working birthday kasi magso-show kami sa U.S. sa birthday ko," he says.

Some say he's meeting Ruffa Gutierrez there, who's also celebrating her birthday on June 24. "I'll be meeting some friends in L.A. I know siya naman, meron siyang show dun for her Roof-A-Child Foundation. Pero ano naman ang masama kung magkita kami habang naroroon? I just wish tigilan na ang intriga sa'min kasi naapektuhan na ang friendship namin. Kaya nga I told her huwag na lang tayo mag-hang out para tigilan na ang mga balita at pilitin silang paniwalaan ang sinasabi nating friends lang tayo. Sa totoo lang, nahihirapan na kaming maging normal na magkaibigan kasi nauunahan ng intriga. Ganyan ang nangyari sa 'min noon ni Carmen Soo when we played husband and wife in 'T2'. Yung friendship namin, naunahan ng intriga, so naputol. Kaya lang, itong kay Ruffa, extreme ang nangyari dahil nag-away pa sila ng mommy niya na wala namang dapat pag-awayan. Sobra na ang layo ng narating ng isyung ito, siguro masarap kasing pag-usapan ang intriga kaya pinapahaba nang pinapahaba. Lalo na nga, I just came from a relationship at ganun din siya, so parang ang gandang i-link kami dahil hot item, di ba? But at our expense."

What can he say about Annabelle Rama's allegation that he seems to be ashamed of Ruffa? "Ayoko na lang magcomment doon kasi, if I'd answer, then she'd also answer, mas hahaba, hindi na matatapos. So I will keep my silence na lang. Basta friend ko pa rin si Ruffa, we understand each other at alam namin kung ano ang totoo. I think it's Ruffa who should explain to her mom na magkaibigan lang kami talaga, wala nang iba."

But Annabelle says he woos her and gives to her. "Minsan ko lang siya nabigyan ng food. When I bring food kasi noon sa set ng 'Betty La Fea', it's for everyone. But one time, I brought some pasta na hindi nakain sa taping and I asked her assistant kung gusto kaya 'yun ni Ruffa. Very casual yun na tanong, which I do to everyone. Tapos ayun, nabigyan ng ibang interpretation."

What's his birthday wish? "Wala. I'm not in a mood to celebrate, so basta lilipas lang yung birthday ko, and also, I cannot wish for anything more as I'm already so blessed. I don't even expect to have a party or to have gifts. A simple text message greeting me, masaya na ako run."

What about his gift for Ruffa? "I don't know. Baka may makita ko sa States. Baka shoes. Kasi sinukat ko yung sapatos niya, kasya sa akin," he laughs. "I hope tigilan na talaga ang ganitong intriga dahil hindi pa ako ready for another relationship after the previous one just ended. I want to focus muna on my personal life and my work. Dito lang sa movie namin ni Tita Vi and Luis Manzano, nauubos na ang energy ko kaya dito muna ako." (MNS)

Angelica denies tiff with Cristine

Angelica Panganiban
MANILA -- IN 'Banana Split, Angelica Panganiban does a mean impersonation of Kris Aquino's style of hosting in SNN. Has she ever asked Kris about her reaction? “Hindi po,” she says. “But I heard she takes it positively. Ngayon nga, yung designer ng clothes niya, gagawa na rin ako ng sarili kong version para mas magaya ko siya nang husto.”

Is she really the cause of Cristine Reyes' decision to leave Banana Split? “I don't think so. Okay naman kaming lahat with her. So we don't know kun saan galing 'yan. Ithink it's her personal decision na umalis.”

Angelica just signed a new two-year contract with Star Cinema. Star exec Malou Santos says she'll do three new films with them. One is I Love You, Goodbye, now filming, with Gabby Concepcion, Kim Chiu and her real life BF Derek Ramsay. Its theme song is Joey Albert's It's Over Now. This will be followed by a comedy with Vhong Navarro to be directed by Joyce Bernal and another film with Bea Alonzo, Toni Gonzaga and Pokwang about women of today, to be megged by Jeffrey Jeturian. On ABS-CBN, she has started taping a new series, the remake of a Mexicanovela, Rubi, with Diether Ocampo.

“I'm really grateful to Star and ABS sa dami ng assignments that they give me.”

How's the film with Gabby turning out? "Maganda, it's directed by Tita Laurice Guillen who directed me before in 'Santa Santita. 50% na kami. Yung scenes na lang ni Derek ang di nakukunan as he's still busy shooting his movie with Bea Alonzo and Sam Milby, 'And I Love You So', and two telenovelas, 'Nasaan Ka, Maruja' with Kristine Hermosa and 'The Wedding' with Anne Curtis."

We heard she has a bedscene with Gabby. "Yes. Part naman 'yun ng pagma-mature ko as an actress after playing Aga Muhlach's wife in 'Love Story'. Hindi na ko nailang kasi we've worked before in 'Iisa Pa Lamang' at maganda ang naging bonding namin dun. Also, I trust our director kaya relaxed ako kahit sa bedscene."

How would she compare Gabby and Aga? "Parang hindi naman fair pagkumparahin sila kasi they have different personalities. Pero pareho silang masarap katrabaho. Kung may kaibhan man, mas childish si Kuya Gabo kasi mahilig mang-asar at kung minsan, di mo alam if he's serious or just joking."

So how is Derek doing? "Ayun, nagkasakit. Kasi wala siyang rest. He's doing two movies and two TV shows, so araw araw talaga siya nagtatrabaho at bumaba ang resistensya so he got sick. But he's okay now. Ako kasi mismo ang nagpapainom ng gamot sa kanya kaya gumaling agad with my tender loving care." (MNS)

Instead of a movie, meantime, Aquino disclosed that she and Revillame are thinking of appearing in a comedy TV show.

Wowowee-lympics

Meanwhile, last Saturday, Revillame as well as the whole production staff, crew and talents of "Wowowee" were overwhelmed with joy when thousands of people watched "Wowowee-lympics" at the Araneta Coliseum.

They were able to sell 13,000 tickets that amounted to approximately P800,000, which would be donated to a charitable institution. (MNS)

Court castigates Zsa Zsa Padilla

MANILA -- Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla has been reprimanded by a court for discussing her annulment case in public. Padilla, who has been separated from husband Dr. Modesto Tatlonghari for more than a decade, said this is why from now on she is keeping mum on the issue.

"Hindi ko pwedeng idiscuss. Napagalitan na ako ng korte," Padilla said.

A court had reversed an earlier decision annulling Padilla’s marriage to Tatlonghari. Padilla had then expressed her frustration over her still unresolved annulment case. Her marriage is keeping her and partner of 20 years, Comedy King Dolphy, from tying the knot.

When asked if she and Dolphy still wanted to get married, she said: "Ang kasal kasi it's the beginning of your lives. You plan as a couple, you plan to have children and all that . We are beyond that already."

“Twenty one years na namin sa July. So, sabi ko hindi ko alam kung importante pa ba sa amin 'yon (wedding). Ito ang magandang sagot, we will cross the bridge when we get there," she added.

Padilla and Tatlonghari have one daughter together, singer-actress Karylle. She and Dolphy, meantime, have two daughters. (MNS)
