MANILA -- The impact of monster typhoon “Yolanda” (Haiyan) on the Philippine economy could be as much as P604 billion,  or five percent of the country’s gross domestic product, Albay Gov. Joey Salceda, an economist who was recently elected chairman of the United Nations’ Green Climate Fund, said Tuesday.

Question: I have extra funds coming from my SDA account that will soon terminate, and I am wondering if it is right to buy some US dollars as investment. The peso dollar exchange rate rose to as high as P44.80 to $1 two months ago and it has since stayed at the P43 level. Is this the best time to come in before the peso depreciates again?
