Piolo Pascual is out of the “Kimmy Dora” cast list for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Already on its third installment, the comedy franchise starring Eugene Domingo now counts Sam Milby as one of the actress’ leading men.

Pascual’s talent manager Erickson Raymundo explained, through ABS-CBN News, why the Kapamilya actor – who is also the film’s co-producer (under Spring Films) – pulled out of the project.

“He can’t do the movie anymore because of his schedule kasi may ginagawa rin siyang mga pelikula ngayon. So meron kaming mga kailangang habulin (na) schedule at hindi na siya nagma-match, so nag-decide naman kami to allow him not to do it na rin,” Raymundo said, referring to Pascual’s upcoming movie with Toni Gonzaga. Pascual also has a big screen project that co-stars him with rival network’s prized talent Marian Rivera.

Contrary to earlier reports that Spring Films will be fined by the MMFF committee with half a million pesos for the sudden cast shake-up, Raymundo clarified that Spring Films was not penalized because they were able to submit the film’s changes ahead of the deadline set by the festival organizers.

Meanwhile, Milby admitted in the same ABS-CBN News report that he feels the pressure of replacing Pascual, knowing that the first two installments of the films were hits. It is also his first time to be part of the MMFF.

“Siyempre excited ako at kinakabahan. Exciting at medyo nakakatakot din. May kaba, but of course this is a... siyempre ‘yung success ng first two, nakakatulong talaga ‘yun.”

The “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” star added, “I mean, ‘Kimmy Dora’ is already established and people really loved it, accepted it. Ako rin, I’m a fan, so I think that will also help a lot for this third sequel.” (Manila Bulletin)
