MANILA -– Actress Jodi Sta. Maria admitted she is also sad that the film version of her hit daytime series “Be Careful With My Heart” had to withdraw from this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Despite this, Sta. Maria said that she can’t do anything but follow the orders of the management.

“Kami din nalulungkot na kailangan umatras ng ‘Be Careful’ sa pelikula kasi talagang hindi kakayanin ng schedule. Iyon talaga ang naging problema,” she said.

But asked if a movie version of the “kilig serye” is still possible on a later date, Sta. Maria said: “Posible pero hindi ko din talaga alam kung ano ang final na plan. Hindi pa naman [close ang doors].”

Last week, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Francis Tolentino said he received Star Cinema's letter formalizing the withdrawal of the film.

The ABS-CBN film production outfit, in its letter, explained that the decision to pull out the movie is due to the "tight schedule" of the cast and crew of "Be Careful With My Heart" in shooting the ongoing series.

Directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, who also helms the daytime soap, "Be Careful With My Heart: The Movie" was billed as the continuation of the love story of Maya (Sta. Maria) and Sir Chief (Richard Yap) as seen on television.

According to Tolentino, the slot of "Be Careful With My Heart: The Movie" is now vacated, which means a film among those that have been submitted as early this year may be tapped to complete the eight-film line-up in time for the festival's Christmas Day opening.
