Consulate General in New York, Asia Society Host Supreme Court Justice Carpio’s Special Lecture on South China Sea

NEW YORK -- In what is billed as the most comprehensive discussion on the international dispute involving the South China Sea and the Philippines, a special lecture by Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio will be held in New York on October 6. 

The Consulate General and Asia Society will host the New York-leg of the North America tour on October 6 at 6:00 o’clock PM, Kalayaan Hall, Philippine Center (between 45th and 46th streets).  The lecture is open to the general public and Asia Society’s Executive Vice-President Mr. Tom Nagorski will be the moderator.

As a leading expert on legal issues surrounding the South China Sea dispute, Justice Carpio will help shed light on maritime issues and the applicable international legal norms and conventions, such as the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas, and discuss the merits of the Philippines’ maritime claim pending before the International Tribunal on the Law of the Seas.
