JERSEY CITY, NJ -- At the heels of a successful event that brought over 400 guests to his birthday fundraiser, Jersey City Council President Rolando Lavarro urged Filipinos to continue to exert their political voice and exercise their civic duty to vote on Election Day, on Tuesday, November 3.  In Jersey City, Lavarro is endorsing Education Matters Team for the local school board election.

"I am proud to endorse the Education Matters Team of John Reichart, Vidya Gangadin, and Marilyn Roman for the Jersey City Board of Education, to represent the interest of over 20,000 students in our Jersey City public schools," said Lavarro.  "As Jersey City returns to local control, we need leaders with the right priorities and proven ability and expertise to set our schools in the right direction, and give our kids the best resources to succeed."

"On Tuesday, November 3, please vote 1D, 3D, 4D; the Education Matters Team of Reichart, Gangadin, and Roman.  It's simple math.  Just remember, 1D + 3D = 4D."

In Hudson County, County Executive and Assembly candidates are also up for election.  Lavarro urges voters to vote Column B for Democrats and is throwing his support for incumbent Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise and for Assembly candidates Nicholas Chiaravalloti and Angela McKnight in the 31st District, which includes Jersey City and Bayonne, and the entire Democratic ticket.

"We need to support candidates who understand our values and will represent the interests of our community," said Lavarro.  "We need public servants who will listen to constituents, fight for working families, and recognize that they represent a very diverse community who want their concerns and voices to be heard."

"We need to come out and vote Column B on November 3 and support Democratic candidates who have done right by our community and will continue to be inclusive in the political process."

"The most important thing is that people come out and vote so we can make an impact on decisions and matters that affect our local government and our quality of life in our neighborhoods."

Polls are open from 6 am to 8pm on Tuesday, November 3.
