NEW YORK -- The Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. The two contests are the premier contests in the area among the numerous Filipino community organization beauty contests mainly since they’re both conducted in conjunction with the annual celebration of Philippine Independence.  The grand prize for the pair of contests is a round trip airline ticket to the Philippines replete with land arrangements.

As of this writing, the six competitors for the top title of Mrs. Kalayaan are Rose Abejar, Trefonia Brecio, Leony Doller, Joselyn Harding, Dhelma Lopez and Marian Reyes.
