Cam highlights the Hermanos Y Hermanas Mayores

The Catholic Action of Mary (CAM) is proud to highlight this year's Hermanos y Hermanas Mayores: Leticia R. Balagot, Lee Gloria Bracero, Ruth P. Sa-Onoy, Gregory De Guzman & Dr. Prospero A. Lim., along with our Reynas (Zezlet Kae D. Depano - Reyna Elena, Maria Ysabella Calleja - Reyna De Las Flores & Ramona S. Gapasin - Reyna Emperatriz.) they will also be honored at the 38th Santacruzan Presentation Ball which will be held at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel - Newark, NJ (formerly the Sheraton Hotel) on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 6:30pm.  We would like to thank these distinguished and prominent members of the Filipino community for their generous contributions to the Parish.


LETICIA from Villasis, Pangasinan, Philippines. A Nurse, by profession, she graduated from the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila, Philippines. She was married to Paulo D. Balagot, who already passed away, and they were blessed with two children: Emeline married to Dave Thornell and Leonard married to Melissa. She has 5 grandchildren; Sydney, Aidan and Justin Thornell; Abigail and Andrew Balagot. She was working for Veterans Adm. Medical Center as a Head Nurse at the Ambulatory Care Dept.-Surgery and had retired after 32 years. She is a parishioner of the St. Mary’s Parish and a member of the Villasinian Association of the East Coast.


LEE is a native of Zambales, Philippines.  She has six children namely:  Didi, Rose, Hassan; Milani, Zoraida and Saudia. She graduated High School at Bonifacio Academy in Quezon City, Philippines and was a Businesswoman prior to her migration to the United States. A long time resident of Jersey City, New Jersey, Lee used to work as personal assistant to the Princess of Iran for 19 years.  She is now happily retired and actively affiliated with the Virgin of the Barangay.

RUTH P. SA-ONOY, Hermana Mayor

RUTH lived in Jersey City, New Jersey since 1975. Aware of the needs of the community, she uses her free time as a volunteer worker of the Pan American Concerned Citizens Action League, Inc. (PACCAL). She regularly attends and supports the Monthly Filipino Mass and other activities at St. Mary’s Parish and is always available to give her assistance whenever it is needed.  Ruth was also a Hermana Mayor in 2001.


GREGORY hails from Nagcarlan, Laguna, where he grew up with six other siblings. Presently, Gregory resides in Jersey City, New Jersey with his wife Elinore Lina and their son Mark. His daughter Julieza is married to JL Lavina and is blessed with two children - Layson Evan, and Zoe Isabelle. Three years ago he started his journey with Fr. Efren "Momoy" Borromeo, S.O.L.T. when he was touched by God and had a life changing experience. He was further blessed when Father Momoy came to New Jersey last year to promote his Trinitas Healing Ministry. Through the help of St. Anne Church and St. Mary’s Parish, the Healing Caravan 2014 was a success. 

Gregory is presently a member of St. Aloysius Parish, and an active member of Knights of Columbus Council 475 as Fourth Degree Knight. For the past 31 years, Gregory has worked and managed his own construction company. Gregory was also a Hermano Mayor in 2015.

DR. PROSPERO A. LIM, Hermano Mayor

DR. PROS is a Psychiatrist from Staten Island, New York, and a Waray from Samar, Philippines. An active Community Leader, he holds positions in numerous  organizations. Currently, he is the President of Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI) and Royal Pontifical USTMAANY; Secretary of the Philippine Medical Association in  America (PMAA) and Overall Coordinator of the PMAA medical mission; Chairman of the National Knights of San Lorenzo Ruiz and the Corresponding Secretary of San Lorenzo Ruiz Association in America (SLRAA), National; and the Area Commander of the Knights of Rizal for Eastern USA1. Dr. Lim is also a recipient of various awards such as Melvin Jones Fellow, Dangal ng Lahi Award from NAFFA and Leadership Award from PACCAL and NY Jaycees.
