JERSEY CITY, NJ – The White House Initiative on Asian American and Pacific Islanders New York/New Jersey Regional Network and the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) held a free grant writing and technical training on June 9 that was attended by close to 100 representatives from non-profits and social service organizations in the metro area.

On May 19, the date that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) was scheduled to begin accepting applications under the new deferred action initiative for parents of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (known as DAPA), pro-immigrant activists held actions around the country in support of the currently blocked DAPA program.

NaFFAA Commends Family Reunification Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) commends Congressman Mark Takai (D-HI) for introducing the Filipino Veterans Family Reunification Act of 2015 (H.R. 483). This bill would amend the Immigration Act of 1990, which led to the naturalization of Filipino World War II veterans. However, the law did not apply to their spouses and children.
