![]() NEW YORK CITY - Aussie/Filipino West End star, Rockstar:inxs finalist, and now International Recording Artist Mig Ayesa will make his Broadway debut in the hit musical ‘Burn The Floor’ on 5th January, 2010. He will be replacing Ricky Rojas as the lead male vocalist for the final week of it’s New York run, and then will be touring with the show to Australia, Japan, Korea, Canada and then back to the USA. ‘Burn The Floor’ is playing at the Longacre Theatre, on 48th Street and Broadway before it will embark on its world tour. The show is a spectacular, sweaty, sexy celebration of ballroom dancing that was first developed and performed in Bournemouth, England, over ten years ago. Many tours and incarnations later, it has finally made it to Broadway and has become a major hit, since it opened half way through 2009. Initially only intended for a short few months run, its popularity forced the producers to keep extending the season again and again. With overseas tours already booked, the final date in New York has had to be defined as 10 January, 2010. Due to the amazing success of TV shows like ‘Dancing With The Stars’ and ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, ballroom dancing has enjoyed a resurgence of popularity and fascination. It is as though the world has finally understood and caught up to what ‘Burn The Floor’ has been saying for over a decade, that ballroom dancing is sexy, modern, alive and kicking. Also starring Mary Murphy (‘So You Think You Can Dance’) and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kym Johnson (both from ‘Dancing With The Stars’), MiG will be performing with some of the best dancers in the world in this dance extravaganza. Although MiG has played leads on stage in London’s West End (‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Rent’, ‘Buddy’) and in Australia (‘Grease’, ‘Fame’, ‘Rent’, ‘West Side Story’, ‘Buddy’), sang on television shows (Rockstar:inxs, Handel’s Messiah Rocks, The Royal Variety Performance), toured with concerts (‘Thriller:live!’, ‘Queen Symphonic Spectacular’, ‘The Music Of Andrew Lloyd Webber’), played vampires on film (Queen Of The Damned) and globally released his self-titled debut CD through Decca/Universal, this is a very exciting and important milestone in his career as Broadway was a dream he never thought possible. Not content with just being on Broadway, Mig is in the middle of recording his follow-up CD, due for release in the first half of 2010.
