President Benigno Aquino III has accepted China's invitation to attend the 10th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) China Expo on September 3 according to a radio report.

The event will be held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from September 3 to 6, the Malacañang and Department of Foreign Affairs said.

Aquino will be welcomed by Chinese Premier Li Kegiang and nine other ASEAN countries representatives.

The Philippines is the "country of honor" for the 2013 Expo. It is a tradition that the chosen country's President must attend the international trade fair.

The President will also attend a forum with Chinese businessmen.

The acceptance of invitation is said to be Aquino's effort to end the strained relations between Philippines and China triggered by the argument in Scarborough Shoal on 2012. (Manila Bulletin)
