Despite a devastating knockout loss to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Amir Khan is still egging for a bigger fight against an even larger name.

His next potential opponent? Manny Pacquiao.

As per BoxingScene.com, Khan is hoping for a possibility of a bout against Pacquiao who he previously worked with when the two were training under Freddie Roach at Wild Card Gym.

Khan and Pacquiao sparred with each other when the Filipino prepared for his fights against Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez, to name a few, before the Brit hired Virgil Hunter in 2012.

“That fight against Pacquiao is definitely a possibility,” Khan told BoxingScene.com. “We are just going to sit down with the team. For sure I think he will fight again.”

Pacquiao, though, insisted he’s retired after defeating Timothy Bradley in the third installment of their trilogy last April.

Another factor is Pacquiao’s Senate seat in the Philippines.

Khan could have been Pacquiao’s last opponent in his illustrious career but the Filipino’s camp opted for another fight against Bradley.

Danny Garcia, the reigning WBC welterweight champion, is another option for Khan as he is the mandatory challenger for the title but the former Olympian does not leave out a Pacquiao match.

“I can go straight to another big fight, I was winning the fight [against Canelo]. The skill, fitness, and strength was there, I just got caught by a big shot,” said the 29-year-old Khan. “These are the last fee tears of my career now. I want to maximize it and fight the biggest names in boxing and leave a great legacy behind.” Inquirer.net
